Fifth Annual Adult Visual Art Exhibition Guidelines

The Greencastle Arts Council and Putnam County Museum are delighted to announce the fifth annual Putnam County Adult Visual Art Exhibition on display July 13 – Sept 20 at the Putnam County Museum.  Come be a part of the celebration of our vibrant local talent. Fifth Annual Putnam County Adult Visual Arts Exhibition

Countywide Call for Submissions: Begins March 19, 2024

Professional Development Day at PCM: 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, April  20
(Professional photography available to anyone who needs assistance with photographing artwork or headshots prior to submitting their application.)
Deadline for online submission of work: May 20@11:59 p.m.
First-Round Adjudication: May 23–30

Artist Notification: not later than June 2
Selected works delivered to PCM: June 24–28
Museum Installation: June 29–July 12
Final Adjudication: July 12–13
Opening Artist Awards Reception: , 2–5 p.m. Saturday, July 13
Exhibit Closes: Last day for viewing, Friday, Sept. 20
Artists retrieve work from PCM:  10 a.m.–4 p.m. Sept. 23–27

Eligibility Requirements

Open to artists 18 years and older. Open to artists who have lived, worked, studied or were born in Putnam County. All entries must be of original design and personal execution. Artwork can be made with, but not limited to, traditional fine art media such as painting, drawing, fiber, mixed media, pastel, photography, ceramics, metal, etc.

 

Entry Specifications

Only work not previously exhibited at one of our Adult Visual Art Exhibitions can be submitted. Artwork must be ready to display i.e. appropriately framed and ready to hang. Artwork must be on display the entire duration of the exhibition. Artwork can not be larger than 7’ in any direction. Artists can submit up to 3 artworks.

 

Entry Fee

Non refundable of $15 must be received on or before May 20. Payments can be made online at greencastleartscouncil.org (available by following the link below) or by mailing a check to Greencastle Arts Council PO Box 631 Greencastle IN 46135.

 

Free Optional Photography Session

All participants are encouraged to take advantage of a free photography session of your artwork offered by a professional photographer on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m. 2p.m. To reserve a spot, call PCM, (765) 653-8419.

 

Sales

Sold artworks will be subject to a 20% commission.

 

Delivery of Work and Pickup

Artwork must be hand delivered to the Museum (1105 N Jackson St, Greencastle) the week of June 24 – 28 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. unless arrangements are made directly with the museum staff.  Unsold work must be picked up between Sept 23 and 27 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Any artwork not picked up after 90 days becomes property of the Museum.

 

Liability and Privacy

The Museum, upon possession of the artwork, will take all possible precautions to properly care for and display artwork. The museum shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to the artwork unless it can be directly attributed to intentional or negligent acts by the Museum and its employees or volunteers. By entering, the artist gives GAC and PCM museum permission to use submitted  images for promotion only on their social media platforms, website, and printed material.
