Announcing Winners of the Light Pole Banner Contest “We Art Putnam County”

The Greencastle Arts Council invited middle school-aged students across the county to submit their designs that highlighted the unique qualities of Putnam County. 84 entries were received from the four county schools and from home schools. These entries went on display at the Putnam County Public Library, where they were juried by three judges: Barbara Fields-Timm, Alexandra Chamberlain, and Leah Vires. The judges selected one winning design and one honorable mention from each school. These designs will be printed on light pole banners which will be on display later this summer. “Our judges had a difficult time selecting the winners from each school,” said GAC board member Rachel Curtis. “They deliberated over the various designs and discussed how well all of the students chose subjects that represented our county. We are grateful to them for volunteering their time in selecting the winning designs.” The winning designs will be printed on light pole banners that will be hung around the Putnam County Courthouse later this summer.
